Tom Carr IN RESiDENCE at the School Sant Andreu

Food for thought

Tom Carr proposes a project for intervention in the neighbourhood based on the installation of literary texts with different supports and formats.

The project revolves around the materialisation of writing and thinking about beauty and the communicative effectiveness of short quotations and texts. The work will centre on two broad areas:

• Research into and creation of short quotations and texts that encourage the pupils to think and which they want to share with others. The work includes both classical and contemporary authors in Catalan literature, whilst efforts will also be made to establish cooperation with living writers and the pupils themselves will also write texts.

• Research into the importance of the materialisation of writing. This includes work on typography, calligraphy, colour, contrast, fonts, supports, etc.

The texts are installed in the neighbourhood on posters, flyers, inscriptions on walls, projections, vinyl supports, sheets, stickers, etc. Another important initiative is to communicate these texts by a twitter account specifically launched for the residence. There is also the possibility of publishing a short book in the future.
