Robert Ferrer i Martorell IN RESiDENCE at the School Francisco de Goya

REFLECTIONS ON ABSTRACTION

Before beginning to create the work itself, a series of creative practice sessions on processes of abstraction take place. In them, the group works on such aspects as comparative elements, the association of images, resemblances and synthetisation processes. Robert Ferrer i Martorell also discusses the work of some of his points of reference in his sculpture.

EXPERIMENTING WITH VINYL DISCS

To introduce work with plastics, the group practices modelling vinyl records. An initial design is made from plasticine, after which the same form is transferred into vinyl, using a heat gun to heat the material.

DISCOVERING DIFFERENT TYPES OF PLASTIC

The pupils practice modifying the form and colour of different types of plastic.

MODIFYING OBJECTS

CREATING THE MODELS FOR THE SCULPTURE

After deciding where the sculpture will be installed at the school, a series of designs are created and scale models of these are made.

CUTTING AND PAINTING THE SCULPTURE

From a PVC tube, the sculpture is cut, primed and, finally, painted.
