Raquel Gualtero (Barcelona) 

Dancer, choreographer and creator with an international career in contemporary dance. She graduated in 2005 from the Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten (Amsterdam Theatre School) and the following year received the danceWEB scholarship at the ImpulsTanz Festival in Vienna.

She has collaborated with renowned companies such as Scottish Dance Theatre (Scotland), Compagnia Zappalà (Italy), Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre (England) and Romeo Castellucci (Italy). In Spain, she has worked with directors such as Àngels Margarit (Capricis, Mercat de les Flors) and Àlex Rigola (Tragèdia, Festival Grec). She also participated in the revival of Julius Caesar, which toured Italy.

Since arriving in Barcelona in 2015, she has been involved in a wide variety of artistic collaborations with Pere Faura (Sweet Tyranny), Janet Novas (Imagine 5 cuerpos y ninguno era el mío), Vero Cendoya (La Partida) and Agrupación Señor Serrano, among others. Her foray into the visual arts led her to work with Agustín Ortiz on Animalia Paradoxa.

As a choreographer, she has created pieces such as Blanco (2005), Persona (Injuve Award 2011), Brut (2018), Nuà and Panorama (2021). Her most recent creation, ‘360º’, winner of the APdC Award for Best Costume Design, premiered at FiraTàrrega and evolved into “Reactiva 360º”, a video mapping adaptation presented at the Casablanca International Video Art Festival. The full stage version, “Complete Revolution”, premiered at the Festival Grec 2025.

Alongside her stage work, Raquel also promotes educational and community projects. She has produced inclusive shows with various groups in Barcelona and adapted her solo “Panorama” for students at the Conservatori Superior de Dansa de Barcelona.  As part of DANSA Metropolitana 2023, she presented and shared ‘Panorama’ with several groups from EN RESiDÈNCiA at La Caldera. She currently teaches the SUDANSA programme, which brings dance to schools.

Her performances have been featured at festivals and theatres across Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
