Lu Chieregati IN RESiDENCE at the School Moisès Broggi
The dance of mindfulness is a weekly artistic and physical exploration programme for teenagers. Dance is combined with mindfulness, listening and the development of a personal expressive language. The aim is to guide participants on a journey to discover their interests and perceptions, connecting body, space, language and creativity. During this creative process, Lu Chieregati will be joined by Stephanie Janaina, who are artists and educators with experience in dance, pedagogy and somatic practices.
Our starting point will be a key question: Where do you focus your mind? Through physical dynamics, sensory exercises and creative composition, we will work on perception in artistic expression. We will activate the sensory system (sound, touch, sight, smell, taste) as a gateway to movement. Sensations will serve as a basis for research and for dance rooted in the present.
Each session will include rituals to heighten perception and record what each body sees and feels. Using authentic movement, play, testimony, and work with objects, we will explore ways of being present. Together, we will create a collective archive of visual, sound, and choreographic pieces. Participants will receive a piece of clothing to transform throughout the course, which will become part of the final costume.
We will also work with spontaneous scores and handwritten notes. Each session will add a new note with instructions for movement or perception. The school will be understood as a living space where relationships, care and autonomy are valued. We will work based on consent and respect for each person's own language. It is not about learning a technique, but about cultivating a way of being in the world. Dance becomes a result of being in relationship with oneself, with others and with the environment.
In a screen-dominated world, the body's technologies urgently need to be reclaimed. This work encourages us to navigate the traffic between inner and outer worlds. Dance originates in awareness as gesture, care and a form of relationship.
