Lu Chieregati (Brasil)

Lu Chieregati is a researcher, choreographer and performer. He is currently studying for a Master's degree in Choreography and Performance at the University of Giessen, taught by Bojana Kunst and Xavier Le Roi. He studied Dance and Movement at the Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (Brazil) and has a Master's degree in Performing Arts and Visual Culture from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, in collaboration with the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid).

His performative and choreographic work focuses on fiction and imagination, constructing his processes by inventing practices that activate narratives that run parallel to those of techno-heroic capitalist time.  In recent years, he has worked on Projecte Floresta, which includes a series of productions such as the plays Floresta (presented in Frankfurt and at Espai nyamnyam) and Ghost Animal Future (premiered at the Mousonturm Theatre in Frankfurt and performed at the Pliegues y Despliegues Festival in Colombia) and the publication of Ursula K. Le Guin's text “La teoria de la bossa de la ficció” (The Theory of the Fiction Bag) by publishers N-1 and Rara Avis, and the workshop “Warping Radical Erotics”, based on the fiction of the Maenads (invited to La Quincena at Espai nyamnyam, where it was held over four days with a group selected through an open call). It was also staged at the Valparaíso Cultural Park, Chile, and as part of the PAR Residencies in Montevideo, Uruguay). 

He is currently part of the M0nster.L4b collective, together with Feña Celedón, researching how choreography and cross-dressing intersect. He premiered a work at GREC 2025, as part of the Creació i Museus programme, with the piece Baile Enmascarado, which was also performed at Sesc Paulista in São Paulo, Brazil. Together with M0nster.L4b, he participated in the exhibition “Solo si hace olor a Tierra” (Only if it smells like Earth, 2024), curated by Blanca Arias, with the work “Dafne en Drag” at La Panera. As part of  “Això al poble no li Agradarà 2024” (They Won't Like This in the Village 2024), co-directed by Espai Nyamnyam, they staged the exhibition “Dafne in Drag: Una contra narrativa” (Dafne in Drag: A Counter-Narrative).  The collective has been invited to the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Fundació Miró to create a choreographic recreation of Antoni Miralda's work “Honeymoon Project”, which will premiere in February 2026 at the Foundation.

He took part in the performance Coreomancia, which uses tarot as a dramaturgical and creative tool and as a language, alongside Pere Faura, as part of La Caldera's 2025 programme. He has also been in residence as part of the CoCo programme at La Poderosa, alongside Lara Brown and Víctor Colmenero.

He is a resident at La Escocesa (2023-2025) with M0nster.L4b, and at El Graner (2025) with the research project “Transtemporal choreography and queer lineages”.

As an actor and performer, he has worked with André Uerba, Alice Chauchat, Idoia Zabaleta, João Fiadeiro, Claudia Dias, Adriana Grechi and Lisa Nelson, among others.

He ran the Seu Vicente residency programme in Lisbon (2011-2013), after completing intensive training at C-E-M (Centro em Movimento), which is also in Lisbon.

He has exhibited his work in Portugal (Espaço das Gaivotas, Festival Pedras D’água, Teatro do Bairro), Brazil (Festival Contemporâneo de Dança, Sesc 24 de Maio, Sesc Pompéia, Junta Festival de Terezina, Festival Conexão Dança), Mexico (Festival Un Desierto para la Danza), Argentina (Festival Arqueologías del Futuro), Uruguay (FIDCU - Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea de Uruguay, Festival NIDO), the Netherlands (Festival Moving Futures), Spain (Teatro Pradillo, Festival BAD Bilbao, Festival Intacto, Festival Proklama, Festival MASA) and Chile (Espaço NAVE).

He currently lives and works in Barcelona.
