The project is inspired by a family archive of letters sent during the Spanish Civil War. These letters tell the story of how my great-grandfather wrote to a friend looking for his son Juan, who was sent to fight on the front line at the age of fifteen and never returned. The correspondence serves as a starting point for exploring, alongside the students, what secrets and nuances this family history hides, while at the same time revealing the social dimension of the Spanish Civil War. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for students who wish to do so to contact their grandparents to learn about their own family histories. The plan is to share these stories during the process and then work on them vocally and physically. The ultimate goal is to create a collective performance based on these choral narratives, where our voices function as a song in response to the dead and at the same time as a tribute.
