Neus Masdeu

Neus Masdeu is an artist working across the visual and performing arts, based in Barcelona. Her practice brings together performance, research and mediation, informed by a situated perspective on everyday contexts, popular imaginaries and gastronomy. She graduated in Arts and Design from Escola Massana and in Applied Arts to Walls from Escola Llotja, and furthered her training at the Institut del Teatre and MACBA.

She has presented projects at leading festivals and institutions such as Festival Grec, Teatre Lliure, Fundació Joan Brossa and Arts Santa Mònica, as well as at various contemporary art centres and specialised festivals. Her most notable works include Seitons Masdeu Hola i Adeu and Festa del Llagostí —a co-production as part of Festival Grec’s Creació i Museus programme— and El desig de ser un llimac (si els llimacs són cargols sense closca). All these works have been presented in various performing arts and exhibition contexts.

She has received the Research and Innovation Grant in Visual and Performing Arts (2022 and 2024) and has undertaken residencies at NyamNyam, L’Estruch-Fàbrica de creació de les arts en viu, El Corralito CCA and Roca Umbert-Fàbrica de les arts, among others.

Mediation is a fundamental part of her practice. She has designed and led workshops, performative tours and laboratories at institutions such as MACBA, M|A|C Mataró and Bòlit.
