Martina Rogers Manzano

I am a visual artist, graduate in Audio-visual Communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Ceramics and plastic arts have always been a part of my life, and I have thus developed a genuine way of inhabiting the world. Playing games and experimentation are the basis of my creative processes, in which the different plastic art techniques, such as drawing, engraving, ceramics and animation, converse with each other. My ceramic pieces transcend the search for utilitarian use, and they focus on the sculpture and symbolic representation. My own imaginary is transferred onto the material, to share creations with a magical and transformative goal.

Four years ago, together with another potter, we founded the ceramic workshop, Les Mans, in Barcelona. In recent times, this space has allowed me to develop my own link with clay, searching for honesty in creation through the material. I also work giving classes, transmitting the pottery trade to others. I have taught numerous workshops, on both ceramics and experimental animation. I have presented works, video installations and animations in numerous exhibitions and samples.

First participation in the iN RESiDENCE programme by the Sagrera Sant Andreu Secondary School, a new centre, launched in the 2019-2020 academic year. The Neighbourhood Association in La Sagrera and the Coordinator of the Parent-Teachers’ Associations of Sant Andreu participated actively in the creation of this new public secondary education centre. Very close to Fabra i Coats, the secondary school is located in the temporary school huts on Carrer Fernando Pessoa 10, while the school is waiting for a permanent location in the context of the railway line triangle.
