Ludovica Carbotta IN RESiDENCE at the School Escola Trinitat Nova
Ludovica Carbotta (Turin, Italy, 1982)
She lives and works in Barcelona. Through the physical exploration of urban space, her work investigates the ways in which individuals establish connections with the environments in which they live. Situated between reality and fiction, her recent works combine installations, texts and performances, and explore notions of place, identity and participation. More specifically, Carbotta examines what she calls the ‘fictional specificity of place’, a form of site-specific practice that creates imaginary territories or embodies real places through fictional contexts, asserting the role of imagination as a fundamental value in the construction of our knowledge.
Carbotta studied at Goldsmiths, University of London (2015). In 2019, her work was presented at May You Live in Interesting Times, the 58th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, curated by Ralph Rugoff.
Recent solo exhibitions include: Column Press, Bombon Projects, Barcelona (2026); Città, Città, Radar, Milan (2025); Constructor de mundos muy parecidos al nuestro, Espai 13, Fundació Miró, Barcelona (2025); Very Well, on my Own, MAMbo, Bologna (2024); I come from outside of myself, European Pavilion, OGR, Turin (2022); Growing Pains, Sala Verónicas, Murcia, Spain (2021); Paphos, Bombon Projects, Barcelona, Spain (2021); Die Telamonen,
