Silence, it's playtime
Silence, it's playtime (Silenci, es juga) is a creative project based on a real conflict between residents and schools in certain neighbourhoods of Barcelona, who complain about the noise coming from school playgrounds. Through a series of collective work and reflection sessions, students will explore the tensions between silence and noise, the right to play and the need for quiet, and the presence and absence of words. This project encourages students to explore these ideas and ask themselves: What is noise? What is silence? Who has the right to occupy space with their sound? What do we say and what do we keep quiet about when we play, call out, or say nothing at all?
Students will play a leading role in the process by exploring, recording, composing, and staging their own material based on their relationship with noise, silence, the body, and words.
The aim is to connect classroom work with the local area (school, neighborhood) and the theatre stage, building a bridge between real life and performance.
