Francisca Mujica Kursan IN RESiDENCE at the School Sants
Francisca Mujica Kursan
Stage director, performer and psychologist.
A theatre-maker specialising in documentary theatre and collective creation processes. Her work explores migration, gender and mental health from an intersectional perspective. She currently directs L.E.D. (Laboratori Escènic Documental), a research and creation platform that brings together real-life dramaturgies, physical theatre, visual theatre and sound to transform real-life testimonies into performance experiences for collective participation. The work develops through a living creative process in which emergent material becomes the starting point for artistic practice and performance writing.
Her works include Cartografía de una casa (a biodrama supported by the Píndoles 2024 Creation Grant); Dos vidas y un cuerpo, a community-based documentary performance about the migration experiences of eleven Latin American women (winner of the 2024 Open Call by FAACCC – Festival d’Arts Comunitàries de Catalunya and funded by the Ministry of Equality); Por ahora estoy acá..., a performative documentary installation about migratory grief (co-produced by l’Altre Festival 2025); Cumbre Podredumbre, an immersive performance action about an absurd (or all too real) political summit, co-produced by FAACCC 2025; and T'estimOni, co-directed with Marta Ruiz, an immersive documentary journey exploring love and violence in adolescence, co-produced by Convent de les Arts.
In 2026, she premieres M(otherlands) at Teatre Alegria, a documentary creation exploring the intersection of motherhood and migration. The project was awarded the Terrassa Crea 2025 grant.
Between 2024 and 2025, she worked as a production assistant on the European tour of Los días afuera, by Lola Arias. She is currently working as a research assistant on a new installation project by the same artist, scheduled for 2027 at Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica.
Since 2021, she has facilitated theatre and movement workshops focused on artistic expression and wellbeing for adolescents using the mental health services at Sant Joan de Déu. She is also part of the KOA Programme facilitation team, developing theatre and emotional education projects with adolescents in socially vulnerable situations.
