fitoconesa.com
Fito Conesa (Cartagena, 1980)
He graduated in Fine Arts from the Universitat de Barcelona and his work features in collections at museums such as MACBA in Barcelona and institutions such as the Banc Sabadell Foundation and the Universidad de Granada.
His pieces have been displayed at various museums, art centres, and festivals, such as the Oslo Screen Festival 2010, the Barcelona Loop Fair 2009-2012, the Barcelona International Poetry Festival, the Spanish Cultural Centre in the Dominican Republic, La Casa Encendida in Madrid, Matadero Madrid, and CaixaForum (Lleida, Tarragona, Barcelona).
In 2021, he was nominated by the Homesession association and the Artefacte performance festival as artist in residence at the Museu Nacional de Catalunya.
Conesa creates multifaceted pieces that encompass installation, video and sound exploration, expanding their possibilities. Some of his works are designed as an exhibition of the artist himself and his geographical context of origin; others incorporate different elements of cultural history and the contemporary world (filmography, musical references, historical figures, digital identities); and others dissect everyday activity.
At the same time, he has given lectures and workshops on art education at venues such as La Panera in Lleida, the Fundació ‘la Caixa’ in Barcelona, CaixaForum in Madrid and MACBA in Barcelona. He was part of the tutoring team at the Sala d'Art Jove in Barcelona (2012) and, between 2014 and 2017, he directed and coordinated Habitació 1418, the CCCB and MACBA project for young people aged between 14 and 18.
Fito Conesa participated in the tenth edition of EN RESiDÈNCiA (2018–2019) at Institut Príncep de Girona (now Institut Teresa Pàmies), where he created “Teen Cell”, curated and coordinated by Experimentem amb l'ART.
He has also contributed to various publications, including Zeitgeist: Variations & Repetitions (Save as... publications, 2010), Unique Window Display (Loft Publications, 2009) and Suite for Ordinary Machinery (Save as... publications, 2008). The latter was acquired for the collections of Tate Modern (London), the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS) and MACBA.
In 2022, he received the Alfonso X Award (Region of Murcia) for “new media art” and the Video Creation Award, promoted by the Visual Arts Networks of Catalonia, Arts Santa Mònica, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Loop Festival.

School Narcís Monturiol
www.insmonturiol.catThis is the ninth time that Institut Narcís Monturiol (Montbau, Horta-Guinardó) has participated in EN RESiDÈNCiA. In previous editions, Mar Arza, Martí Sales, Bruno Ollé, Consuelo Bautista, Jordi Lafon, STA, Lautaro Reyes and Las Cosas have carried out creative processes there. Once again, it is participating with a group of third-year ESO students.
/
Situated at the foot of Collserola, on Calle Harmony, Institut Narcís Monturiol is a relatively small school with two ESO year groups and one year group of sixth form. The school has a history stretching back fifty-seven years, and its size allows for a comprehensive overview of the entire educational environment, with everyone's involvement in the school being one of its distinctive features
