The dance of the dispossessed (or near to) is based on a dance practice that revolves around three fundamental elements: ‘la escuela bolera’ (one of the traditional disciplines of Spanish dance), dansa actual (a term taken from Argentine experimental dance of the 1960s, used to refer to a contemporary dance practice that is experimental and experiential and questions itself with a desire for transformation), and the invisible and ritualistic concept contained within dance. Therefore, our starting point for the EN RESIDENCIA creative process is based on the concept of invocation, which the RAE defines as: a formal or ritualistic call for help.

Who should we call upon? Who are our references?
Which entities should we invoke?
Which bodies, which presences, which absences haunt our dances?
And for what purpose? What can our dances do?

Our plan is to open up a branch of our research system that lets us connect with an Institut group context, sharing tools, dynamics, mechanics, and archives to create a place where the artistic act can flourish. We want a space where we can take a stand on dance practice, where we can influence and feel influenced.
