Aleix Fauró i Sierra

Aleix Fauró i Sierra is a playwright trained at La Casona and the Eòlia School of Dramatic Arts. In 2009, together with Isis Martín, he founded the theatre company La Virgueria, with which he co-wrote and co-directed Si avui és diumenge demà és dijous (If Today is Sunday, Tomorrow is Thursday), L’hivern al cos (Winter in the Body), 180º de cel (180º of Sky), El pes del plom (The Weight of Lead), Com menja un caníbal (How a Cannibal Eats) and El Missioner (The Missionary).

Within La Virgueria, he has also staged Pablo Ley's Paisaje sin casas (Landscape Without Houses), Marc Artigau and Queralt's Arbres (Trees), and Helena Tornero's Demà (Tomorrow). In addition, he co-directed Snorkel by Albert Boronat and Medusa by Ricardo Menéndez Salmón, adapted by Pablo Ley, which received the 2017 Serra d'Or Critics' Award for Best Production. His most recent projects include co-directing La punta de l'iceberg (The Tip of the Iceberg) by Isis Martín and stage dramaturgy for Teoria King Kong (King Kong Theory) by Virginie Despentes, with dramaturgy by M. Àngels Cabré.

Away from La Virgueria, he has directed Anna Gonzalvo's Memòria and the children's show Never Thirsty, Never Hungry, as part of the La Perla Petita project at La Perla29. He co-directed, together with Marc Artigau, the show Ballar (és l'únic que) ens salvarà (Dancing is the only thing that will save us), and co-wrote and co-directed, together with Isis Martín, Cremeu-les (Burn them). He was in charge of the stage direction for the exhibition Port, territori de fronteres (Port, territory of borders), commissioned by Xavier Theros (Maritime Museum of Barcelona). As assistant director, he has worked with Pablo Ley and Josep Galindo on La maternitat d'Elna and La ruta blava, with Roger Bernat on Domini públic and with Marc Artigau on the show Caïm i Abel. 
He currently combines dramaturgy and directing at La Virgueria with teaching acting, dramaturgy and directing at the Eòlia School of Dramatic Arts.

La Virgueria is Aleix Fauró, Isis Martín and Júlia Ribera. We are committed to theatre that engages with society, but also with language, culture, poetry, beauty, risk and provocation.  Our work is based on the synergy of energies and constant dialogue from the diverse perspectives of stage creation. Through teamwork, we find ground on which to grow and transform textual poetry into visual poetry through the energy of the actors and actresses, the plasticity of images and objects, music, silence, and the power of bodies. Above all, our shows are an emotional journey that takes the audience on a trip, returning them to their seats completely moved. La Virgueria's work springs from the need to express, in our own language, what makes us uncomfortable and/or moves us about reality. Theatre as a platform to give voice to our concerns, which, in turn, may also be those of our audience. Since its foundation in Sala Beckett's Obrador in 2009, La Virgueria has regularly worked with numerous collaborators who participate in each project, forming a collective of actors, playwrights, musicians, set designers, producers, etc., who are all driven and united by the same passion: to express themselves through theatre. Thanks to this joint effort, the company has performed in venues such as the Teatre Lliure, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the Sala Beckett and the Heartbreak Hotel, to name but a few.
