Albert Quesada (Barcelona, 1982)

A dancer, choreographer and teacher, he trained at MDT (Amsterdam) and PARTS (Brussels) after graduating in philosophy and multimedia engineering in Barcelona. At the heart of his artistic research lies the translation of musical structures into movement, creating choreographies that invite the audience to actively perceive and listen.

His creative career shows a clear evolution, from his early solos such as Solo on Bach & Glenn (2005) and Solos Bach & Gould (2010), to the exploration of the potential of the collective in group pieces such as Trilogy (2011), Ensemble (2012) and Wagner & Ligeti (2014). He has also explored other forms of expression, such as flamenco in OneTwoThreeOneTwo (2015). As artist-in-residence at the Mercat de les Flors, he created the large-scale piece Flamingos (2019), which was later adapted for several international universities. His most recent stage creation is Desert (2022), produced in collaboration with the musical group Frames Percussion.

Alongside his work as a creator, Quesada has an extensive career as a performer, notably his long collaboration as a dancer with the company ZOO / Thomas Hauert since 2009.  This experience, together with his own creative process, directly influences his teaching work.

In his educational work, he has co-directed educational programmes in the United States and currently directs the Barcelona Summer Course.  His classes, based on improvisation and structured games, aim to train an intelligent body and an open mind, challenging habits to explore the infinite possibilities of movement. Challenge, collaboration and joy are fundamental concepts in his way of teaching and understanding dance.
