Isabel Barios Ibars (Lleida, 1991) studied Fine Arts and Nursing. She currently works as a nurse while also carrying out artistic projects in which she combines these two practices. The main themes in her work are the body and its representation in the health-sickness relationship, therapeutic institutionalisation, the policies and ethics of healthcare. Her projects are always developed along two main lines, the theory, through research and essays, and the practice, through photography, audiovisuals and relational processes.

She also occasionally works in other, more intimate areas, such as performance or poetry.

In recent years, she has worked on the projects Traven/Grothendieck (with David Ferragut, 2017 Sala d’Art Jove Research Award ), where she carried out research on the possibility of the disappearance of the subject, and Maniobres d’Evasió  (with Miriam C. Cabeza, using an education grant from the 2015 Sala d’Art Jove), on how to incorporate artistic practices into the field of primary healthcare. Her recent work includes the video essay Mans invisibles [Invisible Hands] (2019 Festival Embarrat - Museu Trepat Award), which questions the logic of technical systems and progress, embodied in a surgical robot.

She has been awarded an Art and Nature in Creation grant for the project L’aigua que murmura / encants me conta , which consists of a residence at the Art and Nature Centre (CAN) in Farrera.
