Helena Civit (Villach, Àustria, 1997)

Helena Civit Kopeinig is a visual artist and craftswoman. She lives and works in Barcelona. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universitat de Barcelona (2019) and studied graphic and editorial design at the Escola Massana (2020-21). Since 2023, she has been an artist in residence at La Escocesa, where she pursues her artistic practice and is involved in the collective management of the space.

Recently, her practice has investigated material genealogies in which graphic languages of writing emerged and developed, tracing a glossary of stories, objects, associations, gestures and encounters.  Through her sculptural work, she explores the intelligible limits of signs, their accidents and their corporeal existence.

Her work has been exhibited individually at Homesession (Una visión incierta, INVITED 2024) and the ProjecteSD gallery (Remains, as part of Art Nou 2021), as well as collectively in spaces such as the Lluerna Festival (Fundació Miró, Barcelona), the La Nuu Festival (Rubí), the ProjecteSD gallery (Barcelona) and the Fundació Felícia Fuster (Barcelona). This year she received the Sala d'Art Jove 2025 award, and is currently working on the project Words are a kind of shape.

At the same time, since 2021 she has been working as a ceramist and teacher in various workshops in the city.
