Biography

Institut Angeleta Ferrer (Fort Pienc, Eixample) is taking part in EN RESiDÈNCiA for the first time. The school opened during the 2021–2022 academic year, providing secondary and sixth-form education. Its mission is to be a leading centre for teacher training and educational research, and a model for gender equality. Since September 2022, it occupies a newly constructed building on land granted by the City Council in 1999, located on Carrer Marina. The school is affiliated with the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and is expected to become a leading school in the region, serving to encourage students' scientific vocations in the STEAM fields: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

The choice of the name Institut Angeleta Ferrer is part of an effort to increase the number of women in street names and recover historical memory, highlighting Angeleta Ferrer's teaching career as a source of inspiration for new scientific vocations, especially among girls.
