MARTÍ MADAULA ESQUIROL (Sabadell, 1996)

He is a graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and has obtained a Master’s degree in Visual Arts (Mixed Media) at the LUCA School of Arts in Gant, Belgium.

He has just published her first book Com conquerir l’espai, thanks to the Sala d’Art Jove 2020 Creation Grant and the support of the La Panera Art Centre. Among other recent exhibitions of her work, highlights include Recuperar els llençols de Manchester’ (Sabadell Museum of Art, 2021), the event Stronger than air, thinner than ice (Ugent Astronomic Observatory, 2019) and the performance How to conquer space (Kolder Gent, 2019). He has also been part of collective exhibitions such as Apertus 01 (àngels Barcelona, 2016), La Tèrmica LAB (Roca Umbert Arts Factory), Tots els organismes que ens ha tocat ser (Sala d’Art Jove, 2021), among others.

He always works from observation of what is closest to him; something that often leads him to analyse the spaces where he lives, his many houses. His artistic practice is research into what makes a home. Home understood in its most abstract dimension, not just as a physical space that one inhabits, but as a sensation of warmth, of belonging. The manner of addressing these nuances is diverse and evolves in each project, but they always share two common characteristics: a noticeable narrative and autobiographical element.
