Lautaro Reyes Sáez (Valparaíso, 1986)

I am a scenic artist, and I work from movement and choreography. My interests stem from intuitions that I mentally project as landscapes, and in these places I generate dialogues through a sensory understanding. I investigate the possible languages of the body, and that these are expressed from qualities that are not determined by what is academic. I think of movement as a mechanism that provokes subjective images both in the people who produce the choreography and in the people who observe the choreographic form, and from this communication of imaginaries I set out a communal entity.

I have trained in different Latin American schools; Cátedra Internacional del Ballet Nacional de Cuba in Havana, Estudio Julio Bocca in Buenos Aires, and IT Dansa de l'Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. I have worked with emerging choreographers Guido Sarli, Manuel Rodriguez and Giorgia Nardin, as well as with the companies Cobosmika Co, and La Veronal, performing in America, Europe and Asia. In 2021 I co-starred in El libro de Sicilia, a theatrical production from the Centro Dramático Nacional directed by Pablo Fidalgo.

I have accompanied creations by Elsa Mingot and Malen Iturri as assistant choreographer and movement. Between 2022 and 2023 I am taking part in the exhibition project Utopía Rambles at the Santa Mònica art centre (Barcelona).

Together with a group of friends, we created Camaralúcida in 2012, a stage project that I direct and that focuses on research and production to develop mechanisms that alter choreographic perception.

We have presented works with Camaralúcida at l'Antic Teatre, Comte Duc, SAT (Sant Andreu Teatre), Sala Hiroshima, Théatre Jacques Tatí and Mercat de les Flors, participating in the festivals Sismògraf, Per amor a l'hart, Dansat!, La juene création européenne, DNA Romaeuropa and Salmon, being a co-production of the latter in 2020.

As a choreographer I was awarded prizes at the Certamen coreogràfic de Madrid, at the Danceweb Scholarship awards (Conservatorio Maria de Ávila and Centro per la Scena contemporanea Bassano del Grappa); also, I won the first place at the Certamen coreogràfic de Sabadell and the first prize at the Premi Ddansa Vic. He was also invited to the Danceweb 14' Impulztanz Vienna, Brut Nature 18' La Caldera and #FF90 19' Graner in Barcelona.

This is the eighth participation of Institut Narcís Monturiol (Montbau, Horta-Guinardó) in EN RESiDÈNCiA. In previous editions, Mar Arza, Martí Sales, Bruno Ollé, Consuelo Bautista, Jordi Lafon and STA have worked on creative processes.  Once again, a group of fourth-year ESO students take part in the project.

Institut Narcís Monturiol has been running for 55 years and is a small school with two secondary and one high school. The size of the school means that knowledge in the whole educational sphere is possible and that the involvement of everyone in the school is one of its distinguishing features.
