Laura Ginès (Girona, 1975)

Laura Ginès Bataller has a degree in Arts and Design (UAB), is a senior technician in Illustration (E.  Massana) and has studied Architecture and Music.  Language hybridisation, music as a driving force behind fiction and the urban environment as a character are some of the common threads running through her work as an audiovisual artist. Some of her pieces are part of the Arxiu Xcèntric at the CCCB, dedicated to experimental cinema, and she has showcased her work at internationally renowned centres such as the San Francisco Film Archive, the Anthology Film Archives in New York, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.

She also teaches at BAU Centre Universitari d’Arts i Disseny and at the UPF's Audiovisual Communication department, and runs projects to promote experimental cinema at cultural institutions such as the CCCB (Mediation and Xcèntric Department), Matadero Madrid, Arteleku (San Sebastián), Habitació 1418 (MACBA) and CaixaFòrum. She has given talks at art schools such as LAV Madrid, the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (Cologne), the Akademia Sztuk Pięknych (Wrocław) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

She was included in the series Del trazo al píxel. Más de 100 años de animación española, which toured art centres and festivals around the world and arrived at MoMA in New York in September 2016.   Her animation project Our Notebooks was part of one of the episodes of the web series Mon œil, produced and distributed by the Centre Pompidou (Paris). Her interactive installation Grafia animada per a després del diluvi has been exhibited in several Catalan cities (Girona, Barcelona, Lleida, Terrassa, Granollers), at the Berlin Animation Festival 2023 and, until October 2025, is part of a collective exhibition on contemporary cartoon animation at the Horst Jansen Museum (Oldenburg, Germany).
