Laia Moretó (Barcelona, 1975)

She graduated in Fine Arts (University of Barcelona) and holds a Master's degree in Artistic Production and Research from the University of Barcelona, receiving special honours in both degrees. She also has a PhD in Arts, which was obtained in 2025. 

She received a Ciutat de Barcelona grant (Barcelona Institute of Culture) in 2020 and was awarded the National Photography Plan acquisition prize by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 2022.  Her work can also be found in several galleries (Via 2 and Kowasa), at Patrim (UB) and at UNESCO. 

In 2005, she received the Sala d'Art Jove award for a solo exhibition at the Lola Anglada gallery (Barcelona). Throughout her career, she has exhibited at Clic de Visa pour l'Image (Perpignan, France, 2003), and in solo and group exhibitions in various galleries (Via 2, in Ibiza and at El Quadern Robat, Kowasa Gallery, Galeria dels Àngels Espai 2–Barcelona) and other venues such as the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia, Can Framis – Vila Casas Foundation – and La Virreina (in the Viveros Lapedab), Idensitat (Espais Temporalment Clausurats), Géppart Gallery (Poland).

She has collaborated on curatorial projects such as RECONSTRUCTION. 60,989 km, at Arts Santa Mònica, a related activity for young migrants to the exhibition Un món paral·lel, curated by Joan Fontcuberta (2019).  She participated in Drap Art (CCCB, 2016) and exhibited works created jointly with Sara S. at the Alfonso y Luz Castillo Foundation in 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina (supported by the Ramon Llull Institute).

She has been invited to residencies organised by UNESCO (in Tunis, 2005), as well as by Casa estudi B'atz in Córdoba (Argentina), for the Demolition-Construction project with Luis González Palma (2019).

In 2020, she participated in the Panoramic Festival and exhibited at the Edison Cinema in De festival en festival, curated by Andrés Hispano and Fèlix Pérez-Hita (2020).

She won the residency project organised by Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts, in collaboration with VU PHOTO (Canada), with the support of the Ramon Llull Institute. She has been a resident at the latter centre (September 2022) to exhibit at the Centre Méduse (Quebec, Canada), under the supervision of Joan Fontcuberta and Audrey Lahaine, as part of Corrents-Courants 2023. 

She participated in Public Garage (2022) with the University of Barcelona, the Bauhaus University Weimar, Queen's University Belfast, the University of Rennes and University College Cork, with the support of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in the IVAC-International Virtual Academic Collaboration call, the Bauhaus University Weimar as part of the Bauhaus Modul programme, a pilot project for the GS CAPS project. She has teaching experience at the University of Barcelona (since 2017), the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia (since 2012), the Municipal School of Arts of Terrassa (2025) and workshops at Roca Umbert (2023) and the Bauhaus University (Germany, 2025).
