Carla Rovira (Girona, 1982)

Carla Rovira has a degree in Acting from the Institut del Teatre (Barcelona) and specialises in voice and speech work. She has participated in several shows as an actress and voice coach.

In 2015 she premiered her first solo creation, Most of all, you've got to hide it from the chicks - winner of the 2016 FAD Sebastià Gasch Award for Emerging Creation - a show with girls about pain and the relationship between girls and adults. In 2016 she presented While the Machine keeps on running, a show with teenagers from Ansan in South Korea, a show about the sinking of the Sewol, a ferry that left 304 young people dead, from the same city.

In 2017 she premiered the show Aüc, el So de les Esquerdes with the company Les Impuxibles, a show about sexual violence, and MÀTRIA, awarded the L'Apuntador 2017 prize by Núvol magazine, a project that reflects on historical memory from a family perspective. In 2018 she premiered Calla, Hamlet, calla at the Temporada Alta Festival, a show that deals with freedom of expression based on the play Hamlet.

In 2019 she took part in the Teatre Lliure's Classics Desgenerats series of dramatic readings with her own text Kill Agamèmnon, a free version of the myth of Clytemnestra; co-created La Defensa Alien, a show by Jordi Duran on the state of current culture from the perspective of Dante's journey at the Temporada Alta festival and premiered Amansi(pa)ment de les Fúries together with the company Parking Shakespeare, a feminist version of Amansiment de l'Harpia by William Shakespeare; and was a resident artist at the Teatre Lliure where she presented Posaré el meu Cor en una Safata, an approach to death from an eco-feminist perspective. She also directs: Jo encara no somio en gent amb mascareta, a final workshop at the Escola ERAM.

In 2022, she worked on the dramaturgy of the show EZ by the artist Elena Zanzu. She premiered at Fira Tàrrega with ÈXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP, a show and installation about the concepts of success and failure in the gestation process, and won the XII Torneig de Dramatúrgia Catalana with the text El Canvi. In 2023 she coordinated and directed La ciutat és nostra, a production as part of the Escena Pilot project of the Teatre Lliure with students from five high schools in Barcelona.

She teaches acting and directing and dramaturgy at the ESAD in Eòlia.

This is the eleventh consecutive participation by Montjuïc (the Marina de Port, Sants-Montjuïc) in EN RESiDÈNCiA. In previous editions, Eduard Arbós, Lúa Coderch, Societat Doctor Alonso, Rodrigo Laviña, Jorge Dutor i Guillem Mont de Palol, Anna Serrano, Irma Marco, Sílvia Sant, INULA [Mcarmen G.Mahedero] and El globus vermell. Once again, Montjuïc is participating with a group of students from the third year of ESO.

The Institut Montjuïc has been serving Zona Franca for more than thirty years. Its participation in EN RESiDÈNCiA is linked to the desire to create more connections between the centre and the social and cultural agents of the neighbourhood and the city and, at the same time, to promote the artistic interests of its students.
