Trained in the fields of translation, anthropology and song, Arnal focuses her musical and vocal work on field recordings from digital libraries. In 2013, she joined the group Compartir Dóna Gustet, which investigates and disseminates the connections between the music of oral tradition and Internet. Her main project, which she develops in cooperation with Marcel Bagés, brings together all the concerns of her previous initiatives. With Bagés, she self-released the EPs EP Remescles, acoples i melismes (2015) and Verbena (2016) and her first full album, 45 cerebros y 1 corazón (Fina Estampa, 2017). She also lends her voice to other projects in which music is considered a common good or is linked to the oral memory, the experimental tradition, improvisation, etc. These include, for example, the project Tornar al lloc (Returning to the Place), investigating family archives in the Barceloneta neighbourhood, in cooperation with the Malpelo contemporary dance company. With Niño de Elche, she also performs in the latest film by Jo Sol and Afra Rigamonti, Taxista Ful 2 (Vivir y otras ficciones).

El Milà i Fontanals is participating for the fifth time at RESIDENCIAL, and does so with a group of students of 4th of ESO.

/

The Milà i Fontanals Secondary School (Raval, Ciutat Vella) originates from the Institut Escola Pi i Margall Primary and Secondary School, created in 1933, during the Second Spanish Republic. As of the 1961-62 academic year, it was located in a new building specifically designed as a secondary school, which is its current location. There is a great cultural diversity among the students at the Milà school (more than eighty different countries), with very diverse levels of learning and economic and social situations. The school has designed strategies to cater to this diversity using the centre’s resources (small groups, welcome classes, split-classes, extra tutoring classes, etc.) as well as creating links with their surroundings.
